Never Let Go by ~RaisaGrantaireJavert:iconRaisaGrantaireJavert:

I’m sick of people telling me that there’s no such thing as true love.
I’m sick of “studies show that”s and “you’re too young to understand”s
And “teenage love is just hormones.”
For the last two years I’ve been told that love is just a fantasy
And that youthful idealism and Hollywood films
Are the only things that make me think it’s real
And that true love ends in death
And that “normal” love fades
If it was ever there at all.
“Marry your best friend,” they tell me,
“So that when you don’t love them anymore
You’ll have a partner you can trust.”
Well, call me selfish, but that’s not enough.
For two years I’ve been told
That it’s just a matter of time until love fades
That no one ever stays with their first love
And that everyone should experience heartbreak.
I’ve had my heart broken.
I’ve had my share of rejection.
I’ve just never had love before now
And damned if I’ll ever
Ever let it go.
I remember for the first few months
Half-waiting for it to come
The disillusionment of love.
I was innocent in the most scarred way.
I'd been a cynic for years already
Waiting for that one last step that would ruin any joy.
Every trace of happiness was sacred to me
But sacred is just letters from scared
And so I was.
But now I understand more clearly than ever before
That I may just be
One in a million
That I may just have
The luck that no one else seems to have
Because
I've found love early
And I'll never let her go.

This was originally a poetic journal entry for women's lit, but I knew that my classmates wouldn't want to hear it (being the main people who always tell me that there's no such thing as real love), so I put it up here instead.

This is gorgeously composed and masterfully worded. The message hovers on the border of cliche but you've convinced me otherwise. Excellent =)

Wow... Love this is really good. I think it's mostly just Julia who would hate it if she heard this. You missed the last class, which mind you was really angering.
We were talking about "Summer Romance" where it only lasts though out the summer.
Ann turned to me and asked. "Have you ever had one before?" I just laughed and gave her a look like she was crazy. When I said now Elaine said, "Well, I'm sure you'll have pleanty of them when your older."
Then the topic of "soul mates" came up and when I said I belived in this know what Julia said?
"so does that mean you think Talia is your soul mate?" I nodded and she just rolled her eyes at me.
I was just about ready to hit her when she said. "Remeber in "Eat, Pray, Love" what it said about Soul mates? Didn't it say that is was trubble?"
I kept my mouth shut for the rest of the class unless I was asked a question. I'm really getting anoind with them if you want to know the truth.
True love doesn't egsist, yeah right.
It gets me really iritated.
You did a really good job on this love.
I will agree that it would have been a bad idea to read it in class and all but I wish you could have.
I love you, my silver rose, and nothing is going to change that.
